Thailand & Laos Motorcycle Expeditions - Full Itinerary

Day 1. Chiang Mai – Phayao – Nan (398 kms.)
Get familiarized with bikes by heading north of Chiang Mai. You will ride on windy mountain road to Tharntong waterfall and Mae Kachan hot spring. Continue on true bikers paradise roads until reach to Phayao, visit Phayao Lake (Kwan Phayao) one of the largest lakes in Northern Thailand.

Lunch serve at local restaurant in front of the lake. Ride along the impressive mountainous road highway No. 1148 to Nan, ranked top 10 for best riding fun all over the world. 120 kilometers of up and down curves through the impressive mountains and pure riding pleasure overload. Visit Wat Phra That Khao Noi (Nan Top Hill Scenic Temple) before relaxing in your lovely accommodation and jump in the swimming pool. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Day 2. Nan – Xayaboury (295 kms.)
After breakfast, we leave Nan to Loas border via Bo Kluea. Ride along the hidden gems highway 1081. Spectacular mountain and valleys of Doi Phukha National park and Khun Nan National Park. Visit the ancient salt mines before border-crossing to Laos. Pepper work takes time therefore you are requested to have patience (motorcycle and service vehicle registration, customs and insurance papers). Visa on arrival is possible and the easiest way to cross into Loas (1.500 THB Visa fee). Get familiarize ride switch to the other lane. Lunch serve at local restaurant. Continue cruising along winding road until we reach Xayaboury where you relaxing at the beautiful accommodation, overnight and dinner at the hotel.

Day 3. Xayaboury – Luang Prabang (165 kms.)
Today easy cruising transfer to Luang Prabang. After breakfast, Ride along the impressive mountainous road. Fabulous scenery cross the Great Mae Khong River. Visit the world famous waterfall “Kouangxi waterfall”. These falls begin in shallow pools atop hillside. The water collects in numerous turquoise blue pools as it flows downstream. Relax and have lunch at local restaurant. Then continue cruising along until we reach Luang Prabang where you relaxing at the charming accommodation. Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

Day 4. Rest Day in Luang Prabang
This town is gleaming with temple roofs, fading colonial architecture and stunning mountain backdrop has been claimed by UNESCO to be “the best preserved traditional city in South East Asia”. Leisure day or also can visit the former royal palace turned to be National Museum, the most important Temple “Wat Xieng Thong”. A visit to Luang Prabang would be not complete without climbing 329 steps to the top of Mount Phousi for a beautiful sunset view of the Mekong River. Overlooking Luang Prabang on 360 degrees view. Overnight stay and dinner at the hotel.

Day 5. Luang Prabang – Vang Vieng (240 kms.)
After breakfast, we leave Luang Prabang for the pure adventure riding through a limestone karst landscape. The roads begin to deteriorate; however the stunning mountain scenery makes for an interesting riding. Then relax for lunch at local restaurant with the peak of mountain scenery. Continue ride the impressive mountainous road until to Vang Vieng. Explore the famous cave of Tham Jang that was once used by local people as a hideout from Yunnanese invaders in early 19th Century. Cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai, a very pleasant village to explore the different local lifestyle. Then relaxing at the peaceful accommodation, overnight and dinner at the hotel.

Day 6. Vang Vieng – Vientiane (200 kms.)
After breakfast, leave  Vang -Vieng to the Capital of Loas “Vientiane”. Ride along fantastic mountainous road to visit Nam Ngum Dam. The largest dam in Loas with the deep blue water like the ocean. Lunch serve at local restaurant at the dam. Then cruising along highway through farming areas to Vientiane. Visit Patuxai Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. Visit the oldest Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Then reach to relax at the charming accommodation. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7. Vientiane – Chiang Khan (210 kms.)
After breakfast, leave Vientiane, Laos to cross border back to Thailand. Again, get familiarize ride switch back to the other side of the lane. Cruising along the Mae Khong River curvy road to visit Mount Pha Tak Suea. Lunch serve at local restaurant. Then continue cruising along the Mae Khong River road to your lovely accommodation in Chiang Khan. The lovely old wooden houses, shops and hotel in colonial styles town. Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

Day 8. Chiang Khan – Khao Kho (240 kms.)
Before breakfast, very early morning you have a chance to offering food to monks along street of Chiang Khan local market. After breakfast, ride along curvy road to discover Khao Kho “Thailand´s Little Switzerland”. Visit Wat Pha Son Kaew ‘the ceramic and celadon temple’ before reach to Khao Kho. Lunch serve at local restaurant. Khao Kho is a district over 1.000 meters above the sea level: misty, 360 degree panoramic view and have refreshing weather entire year (18-25 Celsius degree). Later you will enjoy and relax in your peaceful accommodation. Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

Day 9. Khao Kho – Uttaradit (221 kms.)
After breakfast, visit Khao Kho Memorial Sacrifice Monument, weapons museum and Khao Kho Temple. Between 1965 – 1984, this mountain area was the battle field of the Thai Communist Party and the Thai Royal Army. Then we continue downhill, cruising to Chat Trakan Waterfall National Park. Lunch serve at local restaurant. Continue along winding road until we reach Uttaradit where you relaxing at the beautiful accommodation near the river. Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

Day 10. Uttaradit– Chiang Mai (237 kms.)
After breakfast, we leave Uttaradit cruising along highway to Den Chai, visit a large reclining Buddha. Then riding through winding mountainous roads to Lampang. Lunch serve at local restaurant. Visit Thai Elephant Conservation Center and World´s First Elephant Hospital. Continue riding pass through national parks and farming areas. Visit local market, stopping for refreshment, before heading back to Chiang Mai. Please arrange your own accommodation for tonight.
