Himachal Pradesh is referred to as ‘Dev Bhoomi’ or ‘Land of the Gods’. Here the people of each village pay homage to their own deity. Composed of lofty snowcapped mountain ranges interspersed with dramatic valleys and scattered with waterfalls, this is one of the most spectacular states in India. In amongst the verdant greenery you will find historically rich towns and villages, home to a very welcoming, friendly, intelligent and hard-working people.
Your motorcycle expedition starts from Manali, a paradise in the strikingly beautiful Kullu valley. Charming, curvy country roads lead from here through remote villages to the rocky and sandy terrains of the semi desert of Kinnaur and onwards to an arid Spiti which is located on the Indo-Tibetan border. Mountain roads beyond our dreams take us through Chandra valley which is dominated by snowcapped mountains, to the tribal region of Lahaul and Chamba valley.
Included in this Himalayan motorcycle adventure, are visits to ancient Hindu temples where devotees can often be seen paying obeisance and monasteries where monks practise their discipline. Apart from the natural splendour which will leave you changed forever, you will meet the hospitable and cheerful people of the Himalayas and be immersed in their diversified culture. You will discover entirely isolated and remote valleys of Himachal Pradesh, follow the Chenab River by rough road to explore the faraway, sensational Pangi valley and the land of shepherds Chamba, over the Sach pass. This enchanting landscape is embellished by hanging villages, terraced fields and forests. Since this trip ends in Dharamshala the main seat of Tibetan Government in Exile, a conference can be organized according to the availability of HH the 14th Dalai Lama, should this be of interest to you.
